2012 Rossignol S3

Item Currently in Stock

The S3, Rossignol’s bestselling ski for 2010-2011, brings wide waist rockered skis to the masses. By combining a slight camber underfoot with aggressively rockered tips and tails, Rossignol was able to build a ski that can slash short turns on hard snow, cruise through the bumps, and charge through soft snow without tip dive. The aggressive rocker means this ski is best skied in slightly longer lengths than many have become accustomed to in the last decade. You get the best of both worlds: lots of surface area for float in the powder, and a short contact length to prevent the ski from getting hung up in shorter turns.

What We Think

Rockered skis have been around for a decade now, but until recently they’ve been a real hassle on anything but soft snow. By centering the sidecut and stiffening up the cambered area underfoot, Rossi was able to make this ski hold up on hard snow without sacrificing the excellent deep snow and crud performance of a fully rockered ski. My favorite aspect: the aggressive tip rocker makes this ski float as well as many 110-120mm skis from a couple years ago.
