JVI and JV
- 1 pair of skis - Soft flexing, slalom or multi-shape; available 110cm-140cm
- Boots - Flex 60 (approx.) and must be able to flex boot easily at room temperature
- 1 pair of poles - Straight or slightly bent
- Helmet
- Optional: Speed-suit

JIV
- 1-2 pairs of skis (Slalom & Giant Slalom); if 1, it should be Slalom or multi-event ski
- Super G skis are not worth purchasing at this age but are available to rent
- Boots - Flex 60-70 (approx.); must be able to flex boot easily at room temperature
- Speed Suit is optional but most wear them
- Shin Guards
- Pole Guards
- Helmet with chin guard
- 1-2 pairs of poles (SL, straight, and GS/bent); 2 pair suggested because pole guards are difficult to put on and remove

JIII
- 2 pairs of skis (SL & GS)
- Training skis at this stage are helpful; one pair for racing, another pair for training and slipping on race day
- Super G skis are optional and rentals are available as well
- Boots - Flex 70-90 (approx.)
- Boot lifts, alignment, and custom foot beds are beneficial for balance at this stage
- Speed-suit
- Shin guards
- Pole guards
- Ski poles - 2 pairs are common at this stage (SL & GS)
- Helmet(s) - 2 helmets are common; one for SL with chin guard and one for GS
- Optional gear: Back protectors, forearm guards, and padded stealth tops

- Female minimums: USSA & FIS - 155cm for SL; 175cm for GS; and 195cm for SG
- Male minimums: USSA & FIS - 155cm for SL; 180cm for GS; and 200cm for SG
- Training Skis at this stage are helpful in order to keep race skis prepped for actual race
- Boots - Flex 90-150 (approx.)
- Boot lifts, alignment and custom footbeds are helpful at this stage

- Helmet(s) - some prefer 2 helmets: one for SL and one for GS and SG
